The Township is in need of a rebuilt Station #2 after its loss by fire in late December 2021. The existing Station #2 lot was deemed unsuitable for a rebuild in the same location, and thus the Township underwent an exercise to examine alternate locations for the Station #2 rebuild, eventually deciding to locate the rebuilt fire hall on a vacant lot off of Otter Lake Road, near the intersection with Highway 15. The property has been surveyed and geotechnical analyses have been completed, and in early 2023 the Township engaged Altered Roots Architects and Eastern Engineering to design the new Station #2.
The drawings have progressed in incremental stages at 30%, 60%, and 90%. Firefighters representing Station #2 presented to Council at the 60% stage with their requests which were largely implemented in the 90% drawings. It is expected that this project will go to tender in fall, 2023 with construction commencing shortly thereafter or early in 2024.
