Station No. 2 Rebuild - Complete

Station No. 2 Rebuild - Complete

The Township completed the rebuild of Station #2 after its loss by fire in late December 2021. This is a brand new 4-Bay 5000 square foot facility including a meeting room, decontamination room, laundry room and is fully accessible. This facility will service the South Elmsley Ward and vicinity. A ribbon cutting took place at the official opening of Fire Station #2 at 5 Otter Lake Road on October 31, 2024. Rideau Lakes is committed to protecting the lives and property of its citizens and visitors to our beautiful community.

Background

After the fire, the existing Station #2 lot was deemed unsuitable for a rebuild, and thus the Township underwent an exercise to examine alternate locations for the Station #2 rebuild, eventually deciding to locate the rebuilt fire hall on a vacant lot off of Otter Lake Road, near the intersection with Highway 15. The property was been surveyed and geotechnical analyses have been completed, and in early 2023 the Township engaged Altered Roots Architects and Eastern Engineering to design the new Station #2.

An RFP for the construction of the new Station #2 was issued in September of 2023, and the project was awarded to R.K. Porter. Construction, completed in Fall 2024.
