Property Standards

By-Law 2026-36 is the "Safe Properties" By-Law which outlines the keeping of properties as it relates to the health, safety and welfare of the municipality and its inhabitants. Anyone who has a concern about the condition of a property as outlined in the By-Law, should email the By-Law Services.

Any owner or occupant of a property, who has been served an order, may appeal this order, or any part thereof to the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Rideau Lakes within twenty-one (21) days of receipt of the order using the Safe Properties By-Law Appeal Form

Please note:  All names of persons making complaints are kept confidential to protect privacy.  It is strongly recommended that the person making the complaint provide their name and contact information in writing as anonymous and/or verbal complaints will not be investigated by the municipality.

A By-Law Enforcement Officer may inspect the property of concern and identify the areas that contravene the By-Law. The owner of the property is given an identified timeframe to comply with an Order.  The outcome of the investigation is not provided to the complainant as that information is also kept confidential to protect privacy.
