The Township of Rideau Lakes celebrates the upcoming construction of a new fire station at 5 Otter Lake Road, that will be known as Fire Station #2.

A short gathering was held on Thursday, April 11 to capture the informal groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Mayor Arie Hoogenboom, Council members, firefighters, the architect, township staff, and a representative from RK Porter who is tasked with the construction of the new building.

Fire Station #2 will be located near the intersection of Highway 15 and Otter Lake Road on land recently purchased by the municipality, and will feature four equipment bays with one drive-through apparatus bay, a negative pressure room for decontamination of equipment, a bunker wash room, office space, a small kitchen area, universal washrooms and a training room. The new building will be capable of servicing a firefighting staff of 24, once operational.
