Rideau Lakes appoints volunteers to committees and boards

Published: Wednesday, 08 March 2023

The Township of Rideau Lakes is pleased to announce the appointment of volunteer members to Township Committees and Boards. Public representatives play a significant role in shaping the community through their work and participation in community life.

In response to the call for volunteers in February, over 85 residents put their name forward for consideration of appointment to 12 Township Committee’s and Boards.

At the March 6, 2023 meeting of Rideau Lakes Council, appointments were made. The Township thanks the individuals who came forward and submitted an Expression of Interest to be considered for these Committees.

A full slate of volunteers has been selected for 6 Committees including the Community Enhancement Committees (CECs) for Portland and Area as well as Newboro and Area, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Committee, Lower Beverly Lake Park Management Board and the Rideau Lakes Public Library Board. Appointed Members are posted on the Township website at https://www.rideaulakes.ca/town-hall/council/committees

There is still room to participate on 6 Committees such as Community Enhancement Committees (CECs) for Delta and Area, Elgin and Area, Morton and Area, North Crosby and Area, South Elmsley and Area, as well and the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (MHAC).

Volunteers support the overall health, vibrancy, and sustainability of the community and to the effective delivery of programs, services, and events. Mayor Hoogenboom stated that “The Township is fortunate to have such an incredible team of dedicated and experienced volunteers. It is their life experience, hard work and input that helps positively shape our community.”

For anyone interested in submitting an application to join a Committee, please visit the Township website for details on how to apply at https://www.rideaulakes.ca/town-hall/services/volunteer
