PORTLAND PLAYGROUND AND PARK COMMUNITY CONTEST
The Portland Playground and Park Community Contest is a Portland and Area CEC initiative designed to engage local youth in contributing ideas toward a new playground and revitalized park at the Gallagher property in Portland.
Children up to Grade 12 are invited to share their vision through age-appropriate submissions, including written pieces, drawings, and optional video presentations. Selected submissions may be used, subject to parent or guardian consent, to support community fundraising efforts, including outreach to residents and local businesses.
The contest will be administered by the Portland and Area CEC.
Submission Information
Please drop off your submission along with the submission form to the Portland Library either during opening hours or carefully (in an envelope preferred) in the book drop-off box. Submissions can also be emailed to .
Contest Overview
Theme: My Dream Playground and Park for Portland
Students are invited to describe and illustrate their ideas for a new playground and park at the Gallagher property.
Key Dates:
- Submission Deadline: May 19
- Participants will be acknowledged on May 23 12:00pm at Portland Hall during the Community Cleanup Event
Submission Requirements
All entries must reflect the theme “My Dream Playground and Park for Portland.”
Participants may choose any one or combination of the following:
- A written piece
- A drawing or picture
- A short video presentation (maximum 2 minutes)
Submission Expectations
Submissions should:
- Describe features or elements of the playground and park
- Demonstrate creativity and originality
- Reflect how the playground and park may benefit the community
