Rideau Lakes welcomes Dustin Bulloch as new member of Council

As a result of the municipal by-election held on Thursday June 26, 2025, for the office of Councillor- Ward 3, Rideau Lakes Council welcomes Dustin Bulloch as their newest member.

With 283 votes, Mr. Bulloch was elected by the majority of voters in Ward 3 to serve the community of Rideau Lakes for the remainder of this term of Council (2022-2026). The position became available following the resignation of Councillor Joan Delaney of Chaffeys Lock. The vacancy brought forward a total of four certified candidates; Dustin Bulloch, Jonathan Carr, Jordan DeLong and Rob Hennessy.


The official results of the 2025 Ward 3 municipal By-Election counted Jordan DeLong in second place with 114 votes, Rob Hennessy with 65 votes and Jonathan Carr with 43 votes. All candidates ran for the position with the intent of helping their community.

Dustin Bulloch, the successful candidate, brings with him a lifetime of community service and volunteerism. Mr. Bulloch is an active board member with the Rideau Lakes Public Library. With the Township of Rideau Lakes, he has served on the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (MHAC) and taken part in successful municipal projects as a result. Currently an employee of Parks Canada, Mr. Bulloch is well versed in the process of government and understands the issues facing the Township as a municipality.

Mayor Arie Hoogenboom extends his appreciation to those involved in the process, “Thank you to the Township staff for all their hard work on the by-election. Even a small election is subject to meet stringent requirements and we appreciate the professionalism with which it has been carried out.”

The Council of the Township of Rideau Lakes consists of a Mayor and eight council members, two each from the wards of Bastard & South Burgess, South Elmsley, South Crosby, and North Crosby-Newboro. Municipal Councils serve a 4-year term as per the Municipal Elections Act. Council meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Dustin Bulloch will be sworn in at the regular Council Meeting on Monday, July 7.
