Rideau Lakes launches new Investment Attraction Video

Published: Friday, 14 April 2023

The Economic Development Committee of the Township of Rideau Lakes is pleased to launch a new video created to highlight the success of existing businesses and to attract new business investment to the Rideau Lakes and the villages of Chaffeys Lock, Delta, Elgin, Lombardy, Newboro, and Portland.

As part of the Rideau Lakes Marketing Plan and Digital Content Strategy, the Township has continued to foster the partnership with Leeds Grenville Economic Development to showcase success stories and learn from business owners in the community. Through programs such and the Business Retention and Expansion program, and the Rideau Lakes Business Recognition Awards, locally owned businesses are able to share their secrets to success, and what strengths are derived from their location in Rideau Lakes.

“It became clear in speaking with business owners that the outstanding support of their peers in the local business community is a huge plus.” says Marie White, Economic Development and Cultural Heritage Coordinator. “As we were filming, the iconic Canadian landscapes we captured showed us that quality of life is our selling point – but internet connectivity is the new advantage.” Ms. White adds.

Rideau Lakes, working with its partner WTC Communications, recently completed a 1Gbs fibre-to-the-home roll-out in all six villages, key tourism nodes, and major routes in between. Businesses that depend on reliable high-speed service and developing 5G network technologies can now enjoy the quality of life that has been drawing people to the area for vacation while maintaining an urban level of internet service.

Work-life balance has made Rideau Lakes ultra-attractive to entrepreneurs looking to expand, start-up a new business or embark on their next business adventure.

The video features the following Rideau Lakes business owners, In order of appearance:

  • Fiona McKeen, The Opinicon
  • Elizabeth Murray, Ethereal Massage Therapy
  • Timmy McNamee, Project Wakesurf
  • Dylan Sliter and Stefano Ferrante, P3 Panels
  • Dana McCulloch, Wolfe Springs Golf & Waterfront Resort
  • Jim Summers, Rideau Lakes Building Centre
  • Mark Hales, Hales Excavation & Trucking Ltd.
  • Wendy Banks – Wendy’s Country Market

The new film can be seen on the Township’s YouTube Channel, or on the website at investrideaulakes.ca.

Mayor Arie Hoogenboom remarked, “The Township works diligently to create an environment for businesses to thrive. We want to see steady, sustainable growth for the benefit of our community. We will continue to make targeted investments, such as the 1Gbs fibre parentship, that places Rideau lakes at the forefront on Ontario’s progressive rural communities.”
