PUBLIC NOTICE

Notice of Passing of a By-Law to Repeal a Heritage Designation By-Law Under Section 32 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.O.18

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Rideau Lakes passed By-Law 2026-93 on October 5, 2026, to repeal By-Law BAST 1994-603 which designated 2777 Highway 15, Portland, (Harmon Toffey House), BASTARD CON 2 PT LOT 19 PLAN; 27 PT SHORT STREET RP; 28R15176 PARTS 1 AND 2 as being of cultural heritage value or interest under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.

This repeal By-Law will come into force and effect 30 days after its passing (November 4, 2026), provided that no notice of appeal has been filed with the Clerk of the Municipality in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act.

Any person who objects to the repealing By-Law may appeal to the Tribunal by giving the Tribunal and the Township Clerk, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the repealing By-Law and the reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by the fee charged by the Tribunal, on or before November 4, 2026 (within 30 days of this notice).
