The Delta Recreation Centre will be a happening place on Family Day, as the Delta Athletic Recreational Society (DARS) hosts its Family Fun Day starting at 9 a.m., featuring youth hockey 3-on-3 at the rink. Other kid-friendly activities will include Chuck-a-Puck, children’s races, face painting, animal balloons and more. Organizers are happy to offer a day of family fun for free, but say non-perishable items donated to the Delta Food Bank would be greatly appreciated. Good old-fashioned Jack wax (a syrupy snow taffy treat) will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The canteen will be open for those who wish to purchase snacks, and a bonfire will be set up for marshmallow roasting (an adult must assist kids). The rink will be open to all ages after the scheduled activities on the ice are finished. Prizes will be awarded to the youngest and oldest females and males on skates and to the group with the largest number of people from one family on skates.
