SUMMARY:Daffodil Days - Daffodils in Bloom from Mid-April to Mid-May
DESCRIPTION:Spring means yellow flowers bursting forth in Rideau Lakes: a beacon of win
ter’s end and a promise of brighter days ahead. This year, they are bound t
o start peeking through the ground even earlier than normal!\nDaffodil Days
in the township runs from mid April to Mid-May – an idea that has blossome
d into something people look forward to each spring. Every fall for the las
t two decades, residents of Rideau Lakes plant daffodil bulbs and come spri
ng, tens of thousands of bright, yellow flowers adorn local roadsides, fenc
es, public spaces, and private gardens.\nThe roots of this springtime feast
for the eyes go back to 1999 when a Portland family planted daffodils to c
elebrate the new millennium. Each year, they continued to plant different v
arieties and locals latched onto the idea. So many people followed their ex
ample that in 2010 Rideau Lakes launched the Daffodil Project with the ulti
mate goal of being the must-see location for daffodils in Ontario.\nBy 2015
, Rideau Lakes (experience/about/discover) was proclaimed the Daffodil Capi
tal of Ontario! Rumour has it that more than 40,000 daffodils have now been
planted within the township. Once planted, daffodils multiply and bloom an
nually making for some lovely viewing opportunities every spring.\nThere ar
e some prime daffodil spots throughout the Township of Rideau Lakes. See th
 e gorgeous spring florals adorning communities at:\n\n - California: 1377 J
ones Falls Road (California Park)\n - Chaffeys Lock:  1648 Chaffeys Lock Ro

ring new talents. From workshops about making-your-own stained glass daffod
il to a celebration of terrarium art, spring holds creativity and new artis
tic beginnings during Daffodil Days at Stone Manor Studios (https://stonema
