The Newboro & Area Heritage Society is thrilled to present a history of Indigenous peoples in our region through two unique and meaningful events that celebrate heritage, creativity, and community.
Join us for Bannock & Beads, a special fundraising dinner hosted by local Indigenous women on Friday, June 20, at 7 pm at the Newboro Community Hall. Enjoy a traditional meal, beautiful beadwork, a community draw, and a sneak preview of our new feature exhibition:
The History of Indigenous Peoples of Rideau Lakes: An Archaeological Approach | June 21 – August 16, at Newboro Hall
This vital exhibition traces over 10,000 years of human presence in what we now call Rideau Lakes—from the Paleo and Archaic periods, through Woodland and Contact, to the present day. It’s the first exhibition of its kind in our area, and we invite you to be part of this long-overdue conversation.
Tickets are now on sale for the Fundraising Dinner, Bannock & Beads! Visit our website to secure yours—a limited number are on sale! Only $20!
