We offer Commissioner of Oaths services. Certain documents require a Commissioner to certify that a required oath, affirmation or declaration have been administered properly.
Our Commissioner of Oaths will witness the signatures of people who are affirming/swearing the contents of a document to be true. You must wait to sign your document in the presence of the Commissioner.
If you are seeking these services you must make an appointment and visit the Municipal Clerk’s Department in person during regular business hours. Please provide valid photo identification to have your signature witnessed by a Commissioner of Oaths.
Mary Ellen Truelove, Clerk, contact details on Staff page.
Common documents we can witness include:
- Vehicle transfers
- Insurance claim forms
- Foreign pension or life pension statements
- Consent letters for children travelling out of the country
- Immunization exemptions
We reserve the right to refuse commissioning services of any document.
The Municipal Clerk’s Department does not offer the services of a “Notary Public”. Those services may be found at a lawyer’s office.
